Redesign Master Bathroom

Briar Forest Bathroom Remodel

Redesign Master BathroomBuying a house is often just the beginning of the journey to find a dream home. Our clients in the Briar Forest area moved into their new home knowing updates would be necessary. One of the top priorities – a complete redesign master bathroom…out with the outdated and compartmentalized master bathroom.

But first, these clients did their homework. On previous home remodeling projects, they had endured sloppy execution from other contractors. They were determined not to let it happen again, particularly on a project of this magnitude. They wanted professionals who would provide creative ideas, deliver on promises and respect their home during the demo and construction phases. After multiple meetings that included personal assurances from the TriFection owners, they chose us. We’re very flattered to have met their exacting standards.

Open Up the Space

While the bathroom was large, it was chopped up – interior walls separated vanities from the water closet and clothes closet. The tiny shower resembled a phone booth (remember those?). The water closet included a never-used bidet. The existing cabinets, granite, tile and paint color did not fit their tastes.

Our first step – open up the space. TriFection removed the needless interior walls and furdowns. Doing so created a completely open bathroom concept, making a large space look even bigger.

Bathroom updates uncover lurking problems

Once we opened the walls, our team discovered 1/2-inch galvanized water supply lines. Corrosion had already begun. Our clients were smart to have us replace those pipes now with modern 3/4-inch and 1/2-inch CPVC pipe. This will prevent future leaks and provide for greater water volume to fixtures throughout the bathroom.

Building a showcase master bath

Redesign Master BathroomGiven the available floor space, we designed a very large walk-in shower and soaking tub as well as a unified vanity area instead of two on opposite sides of the room. We added a custom linen cabinet and linen closet to give this master bathroom adequate storage. However, this was after we eliminated the previous closet.

BIG is simply the best word to describe the master shower. It features a spacious bench seat, a handheld showering unit on a slide bar, a long recessed storage niche in the wall and frameless glass with no door for easy entry and exit. We finished the shower in 10×20 Monocibec Ethos porcelain field tile, which resembles natural stone, from Crossville in a vertical broken join pattern; we continued the look on the shower floor with 2×2 tiles. Meanwhile, Lucente Mulberry linear glass mosaic tile from Emser on the recessed niche, the face of the bench seat, the bathtub skirt and splash certainly adds a contemporary element.

Custom vanity cabinetry

Redesign Master BathroomTriFection’s custom cabinetry team designed and built the vanity cabinet and adjoining linen cabinet using solid beech with Mission Oak stain color. Cabinet fronts were Shaker style. Kashmir Cream 3-centimeter granite with a straight polished edge topped not only the vanity countertop but also the tub deck and bench seat. Then, instead of a traditional four-inch granite backsplash for the vanity, we tiled the entire wall behind the vanity with the same Lucente Mulberry linear glass mosaic tile from the shower and tub area. This tile formed eye-catching mirror frames. Brushed nickel fixtures from Moen and Kohler finished off the modern look our clients hoped for.

Bringing new light to this bathroom update

We already allowed more natural light to fill the larger bathroom by removing walls at the beginning of the project. Adding all new LED recessed can lighting and contemporary sconce lighting in the vanity area only enhanced the brighter and fresher look.

Redesign Master Bathroom Leads to Guest Update

Our clients were so delighted with the new look and functionality of their master bathroom, along with the more positive experience of working with the TriFection professionals, we’re already engaged on the remodel of a guest bathroom. In the meantime, they’re one step closer to converting a house purchase into their dream home.
