Our clients in west Houston have a beautiful home with a large master bathroom. However, in the middle of that bathroom, sat a monster jetted bathtub and deck. It consumed the space and caused more than a few stubbed toes. They rarely, if ever, used the jets that simply fostered bacteria growth at this point. So, our clients decided to pursue a bathroom remodel that would replace this outdated tub with something smaller, modern, and more elegant: a beautiful soaking tub.
Soaking Tub Change Leads to Another
During the initial in-home consultation with a TriFection consultant, the discussion about a new bathtub expanded to the shower. Given the elimination of the cultured marble tub deck, the existing cultured marble shower with framed glass would look old. For various reasons, now would be the right time to update that as well.
And…while we’re at it, the painted vanity cabinets certainly could use a refresh, too. Instead of simply painting the builder-grade cabinet fronts with the same cheap hinges and drawer slides, we strongly recommended a cabinet reface. Reface means all new cabinet doors and drawers. This would provide them the look of new custom cabinets without the expense of replacing the existing granite countertops, backsplash, and mirrors…Last but not least, we would paint the bathroom walls, ceiling, and wood trim.
But, Don’t Fix What Ain’t Broken
Our clients’ bathroom featured a nice tiled floor with granite inserts. They had cleaned and maintained the floor very well over the years and wanted to preserve it. Doing so would require a highly skilled tile setter to repair the larger footprint of the old monster tub deck. Fortunately, our clients had extra tiles available, and TriFection had the perfect craftsman for the job. The result is a newly tiled area around the new bathtub that blends extremely well with the existing floor. No visitor would suspect patchwork. Similarly, we saved the granite countertops, which matched the decorative inserts on the floor.
Budget-Friendly Solution Allows for More Projects..or Soaking Tubs
Our clients achieved a new master bathroom they love without breaking the bank. The new DXV soaking tub by American Standard is a big hit. Their Atessa Brillos Glossy shower tile complements the existing bathroom tile seamlessly. And, the refaced cabinets with solid beech wood fronts look good as brand new. These selections have breathed new life into the existing tile and granite countertops.
Now, these nice folks are ready to enlist TriFection for more bathroom remodeling services. First, they just need to agree on whether to start with a new kitchen or energy-efficient replacement windows. We won’t attempt to referee that friendly debate, but we’ll be ready for either option once they decide!
