Vintage Bathroom Design

vintage bathroom design

Our clients in the Heights only made one call when they decided to remodel their guest bathroom. They called TriFection directly, and it was hard to tell who was more excited about collaborating! We enjoyed working with this couple last year to remodel their kitchen. In the end, we transformed their dark and divided downstairs space into a bright room with an open floor plan. You can read more about the remodel here and see Before and After photos. Look under ‘Just right white’ in our website gallery. Our clients appreciated TriFection’s attention to detail and clear communication when working with us. They knew they wanted to have the same high-quality workmanship and dedicated customer service when they updated their bathroom.

Our clients envisioned a guest bathroom with a vintage feel. Therefore, classic black and white tile design would be offset with a pop of color on the walls. TriFection would permanently remove the existing bathtub to focus on a walk-in shower. This would also eliminate a poorly placed, wooden window in favor of a more suitable transom window.  To highlight the character of the 1920s bungalow, we would keep features of the original design including a beadboard wainscot and pedestal sink.

IMG_2814TriFection cleared out the bathroom completely and built and installed a custom beech linen cabinet painted Sherwin Williams Pure White. The shaker-style cabinetry matched our clients’ kitchen cabinetry and included Berenson hardware in polished chrome. We installed a new birch beadboard wainscot painted Sherwin Williams Snowbound, and we framed for a shower that stretched across the back wall of the bathroom and included a corner bench and a soap niche.

Our tilers placed a broken joint pattern of glossy white subway tile from Interceramic on the shower walls and included two lines of Bold Tones Absolute Black pencil tile to elegantly accent the all-white tile design. On the shower floor, we placed 2” white hexagon tile. We tiled the back of a display niche above the toilet to match, seamlessly blending the unique original feature into the new design. TriFection also tiled the bathroom floor in 1” white and black hexagon porcelain mosaics.

We installed a new Kohler pedestal sink from Ferguson and a DXV widespread chrome faucet with cross handles to add to the bathroom’s vintage look. We also installed matching DXV chrome shower fixtures, including a handheld unit. TriFection placed a new energy-efficient LED can light above the shower and a chrome Kichler light from Ferguson above the sink. Clear, frameless glass with chrome hardware ensured all light could easily distribute across the space. TriFection wrapped up the rest of the room by adding DXV chrome accessories and fresh paint. We applied Sherwin Williams Waterscape on the walls for a pop of color, Bright White on the ceilings, and Snowbound on the trims.
