When HomeShow Radio host and residential construction expert Tom Tynan and his wife Sandra decided to remodel their respective bathrooms in the house, they knew a friendly competition for “best bathroom” might ensue between them. With the luxury of having separate bathrooms, each could get exactly what he or she wanted without much debate. The prize would be the most “ooohs” and “aaahs” from guests when they visited for years to come. The playing field was fairly even from the outset. While Tom has many years of new home construction and remodeling experience, Sandra has her own keen eye for elegant style. They agreed TriFection represented the perfect contractor for both projects, with a complete lineup of trusted design, selections, project management and trade professionals. We completed the remodel of Tom’s bathroom a few months ago, and he’s been raving about it ever since. Now, it was Sandra’s turn for this bathroom remodel battle!
Bathroom Remodel Battle
Sandra knew she wanted a fresh, modern and bright bathroom; the old seashell sinks, dark cultured marble, and a partial glass block wall had to go. The new bathroom design would subtly feature the color red and complement Tom’s bathroom to maintain a consistent style throughout their home. With the help of TriFection’s selections team, Sandra chose materials with red accents, including her cabinet stain, granite counters, and deco tile.
TriFection’s team built and installed square-style maple cabinetry with slant paneling and Auburn Anigre stain. For her counters, Sandra chose White Springs Brazilian granite fabricated with a bullnose edge. The granite’s white background featured burgundy and gray movement with gold accents. We installed two Kohler Caxton oval undermount sinks with Kohler Refinia widespread bathroom sink faucets.
We built a new shower as large as possible given the available space in the room and placed Interceramic’s Barcelona II White Polished 12×24 tile on the walls in an offset pattern, with a Linen Cream 2×2 tumbled tile from Crossville on the floors. A four-inch deco ring of square Bati Orient, a red mosaic mix of marble and glass from Interceramic, circled the shower and accented two soap niches. For the bathroom floor, our master tilers installed 18×18 Imola Koshi Beige porcelain tile from Crossville, placed in a diagonal pattern.
Bathroom Accessories for HomeShow Host
TriFection installed Refinia shower fixtures and a Kohler’s contemporary handheld unit and slidebar. We also installed brushed nickel grab bars for additional safety. Clear frameless glass with brushed nickel hardware enclosed the new shower. Final touches in the bathroom included adding Kohler Coralais accessories throughout the space, installing a new American Standard toilet, and freshening up the walls with a new coat of Sherwin Williams paint.
HomeShow Bathroom Showdown is a Success
Sandra is thrilled with her new TriFection bathroom, which is a true reflection of her taste. She can’t believe she lived with the old one for so long!…..So, who won the Battle of the Bathrooms? Each bathroom is amazing, so we’ll just let Tom and Sandra tally up the compliments from friends and family members to determine that. In our book, both won because their level of enjoyment of each personalized space is equally high. If you don’t believe us, just tune in to Tom on HomeShow Radio, every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8am to 11am on SportsRadio 610AM. He is one happy homeowner, and we’re very proud to call Sandra and Tom our clients.
