Inspiration comes in many forms. Our clients in the Cypress area were fascinated with the idea of finding a Japanese soaker tub for their master bathroom. After searching the web for some time and failing to find an answer, they dug deeper. They realized what they really wanted was to remodel the entire room to better serve their needs and reflect their personal tastes. The traditional design of their bathroom, with decorative columns around the tub and outdated finishes, needed to go. They wanted a fresh, contemporary look. After hearing Tom Tynan recommend TriFection on his HomeShow radio program, they reached out to us. Our turnkey service could provide exactly what this recently retired couple needed – one company to handle their job from start to finish, including design and material selections assistance. With plenty of positive reviews and proof that we have turned dreams into reality, they hired TriFection.
We began by clearing the bathroom completely, including eliminating the undesirable countertops, built-in columns, and furdowns above the bathtub. We built and installed new oak vanity cabinets with a Rustic Gray finish and two mirror frames to match. We also built and installed a new makeup vanity and mirror frame in an adjoining clothes closet. We custom painted those to match the existing closet cabinetry as if they were original pieces. TriFection placed Berenson hardware in brushed nickel finishes on all the new bathroom cabinetry and added hardware to the existing cabinetry in the closet to match. For the bathroom counters, our clients chose Silver Pearl Leather granite from Omni, featuring a textured finish and a waterfall edge.
TriFection built a new, larger shower with a corner bench and two recessed shampoo niches and a tub deck. Our professional tilers installed 6×36 Waterfall Yosemite tile on the shower walls in a vertical offset and continued the tile across the tub backsplash and deck to unite the design. We placed a matching stack tile on the tub skirt in an offset design. On the shower floor we installed Cultura pebbled silver honed flat tile from Emser, and on the bathroom floor we placed 12×24 Dome Ivory Natural tile from Interceramic laid in an offset pattern. We also installed matching, custom cut 4” tile baseboards and custom transitions to the carpeted closets and bedroom.
Contemporary fixtures and finishes
TriFection installed two Kohler undermount oval sinks with widespread sink faucets in vibrant brushed nickel finishes at the vanities and at the shower we installed a Delta handheld shower head and Kohler body sprays from Ferguson in matching finishes. We also installed a grab bar in the shower for safety. In fact, it was keeping safety and easy access in mind that led our clients to ultimately determine they wanted a new Mirabelle whirlpool bath instead of a high-sided Japanese soaker tub. We installed the tub with a Kohler faucet from Ferguson.
TriFection placed Hinkley bathroom vanity lights in antique brushed nickel finishes above the sinks and added two additional LED ceiling lights to brighten the room. We also hung an antique nickel Sea Gull Lighting fixture from Ferguson in their home’s entryway.
TriFection wrapped up the master bathroom remodel by installing Kohler accessories from Ferguson in vibrant brushed nickel finishes, placing clear, frameless glass with nickel hardware at the shower, and painting the bathroom with fresh paint in shades of gray. We applied Sherwin Williams matched paint in Slate on an accent wall and Graphite on the rest, Sand Dollar on the ceiling, and Stone on the trims.
Larger dreams fulfilled
Thinking ‘outside the tub’ paid off! Our clients are thrilled they chose to remodel their entire space not just one part, and they love the new design of their bathroom, especially how their tub and shower areas are tied together. The hand-picked materials and contemporary color palette better reflect their personal style and with a larger shower and private makeup table, getting ready in the morning has never been more enjoyable. We heard there was a race to use the new shower first (Mr. won!) but we know they’ll both enjoy this master retreat for many years to come!
