Tom Tynan Bathroom Remodel Leaves Him Impressed

Tom Tynan Bathroom Remodel Leaves Him Impressed

As the host of HomeShow Radio on SportsRadio 610AM, Tom Tynan is the most recognizable construction expert in Greater Houston.  During 2016, he is celebrating 30 years of providing home improvement advice to his loyal listeners.  Tom recently followed his own advice and called only one remodeling company when he and wife Sandra decided to modernize two bathrooms in their own home.  Without hesitation, they contacted TriFection.  Before he sold his business to focus on teaching and the weekend radio program, Tom built luxurious custom homes.  So, he naturally has very high standards for craftsmanship, service and overall professionalism.  He first learned of TriFection’s shared commitment to those same standards when we refaced his kitchen cabinets many years ago.  He’s been a huge TriFection fan ever since, as anyone who listens to HomeShow Radio can attest. We were excited with this Tom Tynan bathroom remodel leaves him impressed.

Tom and Sandra plan to reside in their Spring home for the foreseeable future.  As the years have gone by, they’ve warmed to the idea of eliminating bathtubs in favor of bigger walk-in showers.  The potential for injury caused by slipping in a tub is real and increases as we get older.  Without concern for possible impact on resale value, they asked TriFection to develop plans for both the master bath and upstairs hall bath that would incorporate safer, modernized and more functional showers.  We decided to stage the two projects over time to provide them continued bathroom availability while we worked.  First up would be the upstairs bathroom Tom uses primarily, right across the hall from his in-home radio studio.

Tom wanted a fairly neutral, light color scheme that brought the style of his bathroom into the current decade while remaining consistent with the look throughout the house.  The TriFection selections team helped him pick Koshi Almond porcelain tile from Crossville Tile and Stone for the shower, using 12×24″ tiles on the wall and 2×2″ tiles on the floor.  A glass and stone mosaic liner called Florim Iced Rocks accented the broken joint pattern very nicely.  For the bathroom floor, he chose Samara Penza Beige 20×20” tile from Interceramic, laid in a diagonal pattern.  Kohler fixtures, including multiple grab bars for safety, and frameless glass completed the shower remodel.

TriFection’s master carpenters also built and installed custom maple wood vanity and linen cabinetry with a Chestnut stain.  Even Tom was blown away by the quality of the construction and finishing work.  He’ll quickly tell you no furniture store in Houston sells stuff this good…..We topped the vanity with a Tropical Brown granite counter and backsplash before installing two Kohler undermount sinks and faucets.  Lastly, we painted the room with a complementary tan color of Tom’s choosing.

While Tom’s a wily veteran of new home construction and remodeling, this has been a brand new experience for Sandra.  She has gained an appreciation of all the required planning and attention to detail associated with room design and material selections.  By witnessing our execution of Tom’s bathroom project, she has discovered new possibilities for the master bathroom.  Perhaps most importantly, she has developed a great deal of trust in TriFection’s full team of professionals based on our demonstrated talents, integrity and cleanliness while working in her home.  With her vision and our skills, the upcoming master bath remodel undoubtedly will be a smashing success.  We might even surpass our level of accomplishment for Tom’s bathroom……
