Removing Bathroom Walls

Many older homes were built in an age of compartmentalization. This often leads to a busy, cluttered bathroom. To reverse the trend, many remodeling efforts follow sleek, modern styles that can sometimes feel cold and unwelcoming. We started out by removing bathroom walls.

Tear Down a Bathroom Wall

Our client had one of these compartmentalized bathrooms and wanted to open the space but keep the charm.
The first step was to open up the space. By removing a wall between the vanity and water closet, we were able to build a large walk-in shower to include a corner bench seat. Next, we had to choose warm colors. Instead of cool blues, grays, or greens, we selected neutral-to-warm colors. To complete the feeling of warmth and comfort, we installed custom-made vanity cabinets with raised panel doors and Dover White paint finish.

We then moved onto the essential fixtures. The most important parts of a bathroom are the bath or shower, sinks and toilet. For this bathroom, we decided to unify the room with common colors and textures. We tiled the walls and floor of the newly expanded walk in shower with Saravi Brown tile and Riverstone Beige tile.

Finally, we finished the bathroom remodeling with the all-important fixtures. Unlike many other remodeling projects, this bathroom’s warmth lay in its classic feel. We helped the client select Kohler’s Devonshire line of shower fixtures with a smooth brushed nickel finish. For the vanity, she chose Kohler undermount sinks and faucets.

Open Concept Bathroom

By the time we had installed all the above components, our client happily assured us of their satisfaction. We successfully opened up the bathroom while increasing its welcoming attitude. The granite and porcelain patterning add a certain regal element, and the hand-wand shower with corner seat gives users the chance to experience decadent leisure.
