Recreating favorite looks in a master bath remodel

antique cabinets in master bath remodel

After remodeling two bathrooms for this Tanglewood-area client last year, they decided it was time for a master bath remodel, with some specific conditions that allowed TriFection’s in-house cabinet experts to shine.

Customized requests for a master bath remodel

antique cabinetsFirst, our client asked if we could replicate an antiqued finish seen on a piece in a local high-end furniture store using reclaimed wood. They really liked the look of the pre-fab vanity cabinet, but they wanted something designed specifically for their home and daily usage.

While TriFection’s cabinet team delights in rising to a challenge, we knew the choice of reclaimed wood would cause the project to exceed our client’s budget. So, we offered an alternative: use solid maple wood with a light black glaze to recreate the antique effect. Seeing must truly be believing because our client fell in love with the sample our cabinet team created.

TriFection’s cabinet experts deliver

cabinet refacingWe designed a new vanity cabinet with a desired sitting area and a matching linen cabinet  and headknocker shelves, similar to pictures they found online. We then built a  custom-framed mirror to match the cabinetry with sconce lights set in the mirror.

Stunning from start to finish

Vanities were topped with Bianco Grigio granite from Midwest Tile, Marble & Granite, featuring a fabricated square edge. The stone accented the broken joint patterned TimberGlen Espresso floor tile from DalTile, the same tile used in their earlier bathroom remodels. Finally, 4×8 Carrara Marble subway tile in a broken joint pattern was used in the shower surround.

Two surprises still awaited

During the course of the project, we discovered our client’s house was badly wired and not in compliance with residential building codes. We rewired virtually the entire house, replacing the electrical panel and changing out recessed cans lights for units rated for contact with insulation for the safety of the family–and not a moment too soon.

Just as we finished their master bath remodel and wiring, our clients made an addition of their own: bringing home their first child, a beautiful baby daughter.
