Two years ago we dramatically updated our clients’ home in Richmond to give them the kitchen of their dreams. Twice as big and with the small touches they always wanted, our clients were thrilled with their very custom update – you can take a peek with this video or scroll through images in the ‘We’re never moving’ gallery on our kitchen page. After deciding to remodel their master bathroom and a powder bath, they picked up the phone to call TriFection immediately. Our clients knew TriFection’s quality workmanship and ability to deliver truly custom, personalized solutions would once again transform their home beyond expectation. For that reason, and more importantly the close relationship and trust that we developed during the kitchen remodeling project, they never considered calling another contractor for their master bathroom remodel in Richmond.
Richmond Contractor Seeks Perfection Through Planning
Our clients came to the planning stage of their remodel prepared with plenty of ideas gathered over the years. Together, we created a design that blended family memories with modern updates they would truly appreciate. By relocating the entrance to our clients’ bedroom, closing off a hallway, and reassigning dedicated spaces, we could expand our client’s bedroom and create a large, en-suite bathroom. The master bathroom would have a private entrance and an expanded shower, as well as the couple’s first his and her sinks and walk-in closet. We would also be able to update a separate, adjacent powder bathroom.
TriFection cleared the appropriate areas, removing features like furdowns and bathroom carpet, and tore down and rebuilt entrances and walls where needed. We built and installed new beech wood cabinetry, finished in an Auburn Anigre stain, for his and her vanities. They had more custom storage and features like tiered drawers, a double inset make-up drawer, a medicine rack and a pivot out trash can. We affixed Amerock Antique brass and white ceramic door knobs and Century Yaletown drawer pulls. We also installed inset wooden legs so part of the new counter-space would look like a built-in makeup vanity. We built and stained two new mirror frames to match, refinished an existing chair, and created hand-made matching wooden plaques to attach antique knobs to for hanging towels. Our clients had saved the heirloom alabaster knobs from a family farm. TriFection installed Bianco Romano granite from Omni Surfaces, fabricated with a full bullnose edge, for the countertops.
Walk-In Closet Installation
Our team of professionals built a much larger shower with a bench and two soap niches. We tiled with Cebu Moka tile from Arizona Tile, placing 12×24 tiles in a broken joint pattern on the shower walls and 2×2 tiles on the shower floor. We wrapped Tesoro Menagerie Salon, a mixed 1×1 Stone/Glass/Resin Mosaic liner from ProSource, around the shower for even greater visual appeal and contrast. Burano Bianco 16×16 tile from Interceramic went in a broken joint pattern on the bathroom floor with matching bullnose 3×12 tile baseboards. In the walk-in closet, we placed 13×20 Avante Bianco tile.
TriFection installed two Kohler rectangular undermount sinks in dune finishes from Ferguson with Kohler widespread bathroom sink faucets in brushed bronze finishes. We also installed a matching built-in soap dispenser and soap bar holder. In the shower, TriFection placed Kohler plumbing fixtures from Ferguson in brushed bronze finishes, including a Kohler hydrorail with a contemporary rain showerhead and handheld on an extended hose. For safety, we placed three Kohler grab bars in the shower and one by the toilet. We also installed Kohler accessories in brushed bronze finishes around the room.
To update lighting in the bathroom, we installed Kohler triple wall sconce fixtures from Ferguson above the vanities, as well as updated the room with eight new LED lights. Clear, frameless glass with brushed bronze hardware enclosed the shower area, and we installed a new door to the closet. Fresh Sherwin Williams Analytical Grey paint went on the walls, Bright White on the ceiling, and Natural Choice on the trims.
Bathroom Lighting
In the master bedroom, we installed new Hinkley lights, a flush mount ceiling light and two mini pendants, in burnished bronze and brass finishes, respectively. On the floors we put down new Soft Splendor Foil carpet from ProSource, and custom French doors with special glass matching the home’s front door were placed at the new bedroom entrance.
In a nearby powder bathroom, we built and installed new maple cabinetry with a custom stain finish and Amerock knobs and pulls. The new vanity matched an antique mirror our clients had saved just for the space. We added a new granite countertop that matched the master bathroom as well as a new matching tile floor and baseboards. TriFection installed a Kohler ice grey sink from Ferguson with a Kohler brushed nickel faucet, inset soap dispenser, and other accessories. With two new Kohler vanity lights and fresh coats of Bright White Sherwin Williams paint on the ceiling and Natural Choice on the trim, the powder bath was complete.
