Richmond Master Bathroom Remodel

Richmond bathroom remodel by TriFection

Our clients in Richmond have steadily updated a home they bought out of foreclosure.  The house sits on beautiful country acreage and features plenty of character.  When they made the purchase decision, they recognized a number of repairs and remodeling projects would be required.  They tackled certain small tasks on their own.  They tried another contractor for their kitchen remodel a few years ago.  However, when these folks decided it was time for a Richmond master bath remodel, they sought the most highly-skilled, trustworthy general contractor.

This outdated bathroom required a major renovation, and they wanted a team with a proven track record in design, project management, and craftsmanship.  Cutting corners in a bathroom remodel can be a very dangerous, expensive game.  So, following extensive online research (including a review of Better Business Bureau ratings), they discovered TriFection.  Boy, are they now happy with the decision to choose us…

Begin By Optimizing Use of Space

During our first visit, we immediately identified a compartmentalized bathroom with a cramped shower.  A bulky furdown above the vanity area served no real purpose.  The bathtub sat in a massive tiled deck.  A linen cabinet in the water closet chewed up space.  Once we listened to our clients’ objectives, we shared some creative ideas on how to eliminate wasted space and increase their enjoyment of the bathroom.

Our first priority was to expand the shower.  Any person would feel at least slightly claustrophobic while standing in this tiny stall.  To achieve this goal, we eliminated a wall that separated the vanity from the shower and tub area.  We also recommended a freestanding bathtub in place of a large framed tub deck.  We now freed up more shower space in two directions.

By removing the lighted furdown, we could incorporate a tower cabinet on the vanity countertop for more storage space.  A new sliding barn door replaced the previous swing-in bathroom entry door.  We designed a new headknocker cabinet above the toilet to offset lost storage from the deleted full-height linen cabinet.  Combined with the removed interior wall, the new bathroom simply looks and feels much bigger!

Now Add Personalized Style

When shopping for materials, our clients welcomed help from our selections experts.  They liked the look of natural wood and countertops with more movement.  So, we began with the choice of solid oak custom cabinets, stained in Dark Oak color.  We even added a unique oak wainscot on the bathroom walls.  For countertops, they chose the very attractive Galloway color from the Cambria quartz collection.

The bathroom floor tile is Sunwood Centennial Gray, a wood-look tile that blends perfectly with the other selections.  For final touches, our clients picked a Kohler plumbing fixture package, with help from our good friends at the Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery showroom in Katy.  We installed new solid wood stained closet doors, which matched the easy-sliding new barn door entry, and we painted the walls Proper Gray from Sherwin Williams.
