Master Bathroom Makeover On A Budget

Master Bathroom Makeover On A Budget | Houston Bathroom Renovation

bathroom makeover on a budgetMaster bathroom makeovers don’t necessarily mean tearing a room down to the studs and dramatically changing the floor plan. In this case, our Bellaire client’s budget and desire to keep some existing aspects of his bathroom removed that option from consideration. However, we still had plenty of room for new, creative choices.

There was no denying this master bathroom needed an update. It had plain white square tile around the shower and tub. The floor was covered with blue carpet and white tile. The walls featured dated wallpaper. What this master bathroom makeover needed was more vibrant color and a natural look. Que the master bathroom makeover on a budget.

Master Bathroom Makeover Wish List

Our client’s relatively short wish list began with a bigger shower. But, because he used his bathtub regularly and it remained in good condition, he wanted to keep it.IMG_4298 So, TriFection’s new design called for removing the existing linen closet to make room for a wider frameless glass shower. We enhanced the shower’s roomy feel by tearing out the furdown overhead. We also added a knee wall for more privacy, a bench seat and shampoo niche for convenience, and a grab bar for safety. Kohler fixtures, including a handheld showering unit, in a brushed nickel finish completed the shower’s luxurious feel.

Creative use of tile added a natural look to this master bathroom makeover. We covered the shower floor with Mosaic Sand from Crossville. The shower and bath surround were adorned with Agra Cafe from Emser along with an Interglass Murano 1×1 inch blue and white accent liner from Interceramic. Finally, we tiled the bathroom floor with Agra Mocha from Emser in a diagonal pattern, nicely complementing the other tile choices.

Master bathroom makeover cabinetry

IMG_4301Because our client wanted to keep his existing Corian countertop for the vanity, we refaced his existing vanity and headknocker cabinets with solid Red Oak, stained with Chestnut color. We also built two new tower cabinets on top of the vanity to make up for lost linen cabinet space from the shower. At his request, we included mirrored fronts on the tower cabinets for added convenience in daily grooming.

Finally, newly textured sheetrock and Sleepy Blue paint from Sherwin Williams replaced the striped wallpaper. Recessed can lighting above the shower and new vanity lighting from Kichler brought a much brighter and modern look that completed this master bathroom makeover.

Working creatively within a comfortable budget, TriFection preserved what this client liked about his master bath while giving it an up-to-date look and feel he will enjoy for years to come.
