These TriFection clients in the Champions area faced a dilemma shared by many homeowners. Their master bath felt outdated and cramped for space. They recognized the time for a bathroom remodel had come, but they were unsure of the new design possibilities. And, with a very reasonable but not unlimited budget, they wanted to invest wisely in such a major remodel. So, they listened to the advice of Houston’s home improvement expert (and fellow Champions resident) Tom Tynan and called TriFection. After listening to Tom rave about how TriFection remodeled his kitchen and three bathrooms on HomeShow Radio, they knew we’d take good care of them.
A New Bathroom with an Open Concept…
The old bathroom featured a small shower, a rarely used bathtub, and a tight water closet with a dropped ceiling. Due to lack of storage space, the countertop often remained cluttered. Every finish in the bathroom was builder grade, and the lighting needed big improvement. Sound familiar to you?…
As with nearly all our bathroom remodeling projects, we began with new ideas for the shower and tub areas. Our clients quickly agreed the tub just represented wasted space. Eliminating it in favor of a bigger, modern shower would enhance not only their enjoyment of the bathroom but also the value of their home. We could provide more floor space and a comfortable bench inside the shower.
We then recommended the removal of the enclosed water closet. Now, this is a more client-specific decision. Some people strongly prefer the privacy of a small room with a door while others do not mind the toilet in the open. In this case, we sort of combined those two ideas by incorporating a pony wall (half wall) between the toilet and the vanity area. By doing so, we maintained a sense of privacy while also providing a far more open look and feel to the bathroom, particularly with the dropped ceiling gone.
Storage Galore
Our new floor plan allowed for a larger custom vanity cabinet, headknocker cabinet, and linen cabinet. Through smarter use of space, we created room for all personal effects to be stored inside of cabinets instead of on the countertop. Coming up with stylish new selections for a bathroom remodel can be the fun and easy part. We call that the “Form” element of the TriFection approach. Designing a bathroom with more storage and comfort, while remaining within a client’s budget, requires significant remodeling experience and thoughtful, interactive planning (the “Function” and “Fit” elements of TriFection). These folks absolutely loved our conceptual ideas.
Perfect Sense of Personal Style
Speaking of stylish selections, our clients nailed it! With some help from the TriFection team, they chose a combination of tile from Marazzi, including an eye-catching Selene Summer accent tile for the shower. For countertops and backsplash, they picked Daino Real marble, which complemented the new white custom cabinets beautifully. We also used that material on top of the knee wall, bench seat, and window sill in the shower to provide an added touch of elegance. A single large custom framed mirror to match the cabinets fit the space perfectly. We painted the walls Sea Salt from Sherwin Williams. A new lighting package, including modern LED recessed cans, showcase all of the selections for this remodel in Champions. Our clients now enjoy the look and feel of their own personal day spa!
