A kitchen remodel engineered to delight

kitchen remodel engineered to delight

IMG_4180Original kitchens seldom stand up to the test of time. That’s why these Westchase-area clients decided their time had come for a kitchen remodel. As longtime listeners of Tom Tynan’s HomeShow Radio on SportsRadio 610, they put their trust in Tom’s recommendation and chose TriFection. During the course of the project, we enjoyed some sweet surprises along the way.

As an engineer, the husband wanted to be involved in every intricate detail of designing the new cabinets. In TriFection, he found a well-qualified and willing partner to guide him to a visually appealing and highly functional outcome within his budget. Following multiple rounds of computerized design revisions, we satisfied his exact vision of their kitchen remodel.

Kitchen remodel projects bring kitchens current

Father Time finally caught up to the existing plywood cabinets and laminate countertops. Both were showing their age and had to go. So did the furdowns. Their removal allowed more space for new upper cabinet storage.

Another outdated detail had to go – the big framed lightbox in the ceiling. In its place, we installed new recessed can lighting.

In place of the traditional pantry closet, TriFection’s custom cabinet team designed and built a new pantry cabinet. Its six pullouts allow for greater storage capacity and easier accessibility of kitchen goods.

Cabinet extras enhance a kitchen remodel

IMG_4186Our custom cabinet team gave this kitchen lots of extras to enhance the room’s functionality – vertical shelving, pullout spice shelf below the cooktop, bifold doors with a recessed shelf for better storage in those tricky cabinet corners, and an extra storage compartment on the backside of the peninsula.

The new solid red oak cabinets with Roman-style raised panel upper doors were stained with Library Oak. That color brought out rich tones from the River Bordeaux granite counters from Midwest Tile, Marble & Granite. To connect the look of the counters and cabinets, we used a filled & honed 2×4 Ivory stone backsplash with a 1×1 filled & honed Walnut stone accent liner. We also added an undermount stainless steel sink from Kraus and a Kohler faucet.

An updated kitchen needs upgraded appliances

While their refrigerator and dishwasher were reusable, the rest of their appliances needed upgrades. Our clients chose a collection of GE appliances from Nor-West Appliances, including a new oven, cooktop, warming drawer and microwave oven. Finally, they added a Windster island venthood.

A project with sweet desserts

IMG_4182We completed our clients’ project by painting the walls, ceiling and trims in both the kitchen and breakfast room, using Super Paint from Sherwin Williams.

Throughout the project, we noticed our master craftsmen seemed especially eager to arrive each day. While always hardworking and dedicated to their respective trades, they received a little extra motivation in the form of the delicious cookies provided by our clients. While their heartfelt thanks for a job well done meant a lot, those cookies were an even sweeter reward. This new kitchen will produce such tasty treats for many years to come.
