Kitchen remodel in The Woodlands marks the beginning of a complete home makeover

kitchen remodels in the woodlands

When our clients in The Woodlands decided to remodel, their friends in the area provided a glowing referral to TriFection.  These prospective clients had big ideas for their outdated home, and they wanted a contractor who could provide creative solutions that would improve the look and functionality of various rooms.  As owners of a local insurance agency, hiring a company with an impeccable track record for safety and proper insurance coverage was extremely important to them.  They were fully prepared to make a sizable investment in their home, but they needed to find a trustworthy partner.  Based on the strength of our initial consultation and the comfort taken from their friends’ recent experience with us, they chose TriFection.

Effective remodeling plan begins with listening to our clients

IMG_9317Following an honest discussion with our clients about budget and priorities, we developed a remodeling plan that would focus on the kitchen, downstairs flooring and painting for now.  The master bath needed a makeover as well, but we agreed it could wait.  A key objective was to achieve a more open concept for the kitchen, with improved sight lines to the living area.  Our clients desired a modern kitchen more suitable for entertainment.  They also sought more storage capacity.  So, TriFection offered an idea that involved removing a section of wall separating the kitchen and living area and removing the existing butler’s pantry in favor of double pantry cabinets and a refrigerator cabinet.  Once we helped them visualize it through 3-D computer renderings, our clients immediately warmed to the concept.  They were sold when we explained it would not require massive, budget-busting reframing to the home’s current structure.

Running start on remodeling selections

IMG_9292Before the introduction to TriFection, our clients had already identified the new tile flooring throughout the downstairs.  They also established a preference for white painted cabinets.  So, we presented our selections team with a good foundation upon which to assist our clients with the remaining choices.  The new custom cabinets would be constructed of beech wood and feature tulip panels, glass fronts in certain areas, Sherwin Williams Cotton White paint and brushed nickel-finished hardware.  Our clients chose Golden Crystal granite for the countertops, a Brazilian stone with rich gold tones and plenty of movement.  We complemented the granite with a 3×6 Crema Antique tumbled travertine along with a Montevideo Linear Mixed Glass deco tile and matching travertine liner.  That original flooring choice for the kitchen and downstairs was American Estates Saddle, a porcelain tile with the look of wood planks, placed in a 33% offset design.

Sleek appliances, LED lighting and painting complete the kitchen remodeling

A new stainless steel Kitchen Aid appliance package included a slide-in gas range, over-range microwave, and French door refrigerator. To illuminate the space, we installed under cabinet lights and recessed can lights along with a chandelier in the adjoining breakfast room. We painted the kitchen, breakfast room and utility room in Sherwin Williams Wheat while the rest of house featured Antique White with Snowbound trim.

Just can’t get enough of that new floor tile

IMG_9279Our remodeling plan also called for new carpet upstairs and on the staircase.  However, just prior to carpet installation, our clients decided they would like to feature the downstairs floor tile on the stair treads, like a picture they found online.  We explained the stairs would require extra prep work to allow for a high-quality tile installation.  Staircase framing imperfections that are easily covered with carpet are not compatible with precise tile cuts, so each stair and the landing area first must be perfectly leveled with wire lathe and concrete float, which is a time-consuming process.  Furthermore, only a highly skilled, custom tile setter like ours could execute this effectively.  They understood and willingly paid for the upgrade because they so loved their new tile.  It proved to be a wise decision as the look of the tiled stair treads and painted risers resulted in a stunning, elegant transformation for all to see upon entry to the home.

Excellent remodeling outcome.  Now, about that master bath…….

Our clients are extremely happy with the remodeling outcome and appreciative of the cleanliness, safety and professionalism our crews demonstrated.  They’re glad they trusted the advice of their friends, who also used TriFection for major remodeling work.  These clients now will be another great referral source for homeowners in The Woodlands.  In the meantime, they can take a breather and just enjoy their beautiful home after months of planning and construction.  However, a little unfinished business remains….The master bath serves as a daily reminder of last century.  This bathroom screams for a remodel so as to return to its rightful place as a showcase within the home.  When our clients decide the time is right, TriFection will be ready.
