Making over a kitchen with a purpose simplifies the process. Our assignment on this project was to transform our client’s kitchen from everyday to gourmet style. It not only had to look the best, but work the best. We cooked up a TriFection solution: Form, Function and Fit created hand in hand.
Our first step: improving the feel and the function of this kitchen. We opened up the space by removing the old pantry closet and furdowns. This made the kitchen more spacious, providing the client with greater countertop area and cabinet storage. It also gave the kitchen the room it needed for high-end appliances.
Our second kitchen makeover step: capture the gourmet style and function. That meant replacing appliances. Many of the best-functioning appliances on the market are also the best-looking. We therefore made a large investment in very capable appliances, beginning with a Dacor range and venthood to meet our client’s regular feast preparation needs. In the kitchen peninsula, we installed a new Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and an undermount stainless steel sink from Elkay. Finally, we selected a new stainless steel counter-depth Electrolux refrigerator with excellent storage capacity and a built-in Dacor microwave oven.
Our third step in remodeling the kitchen was to completely replace and upgrade the cabinets. To keep with our neutral tone, we mounted custom-built solid oak cabinets, stained golden maple. Each cabinet had raised panel cabinet doors with mortis and tenon joints. We further outfitted the pantry cabinet with pullout drawers for easy dry-good access. Within the cabinets, we also installed the built-in microwave. We completed the cabinet makeover with a glass front china cabinet in the dining room.
Our last step was to beautify the counters. We replaced the existing counters with Siena Beige granite. Next, we filled the space between the granite counters and the upper cabinets with a Ethnos Huron porcelain tile backsplash made by Monocibec. We complemented the granite counters and tile backsplash with a Puebla Travertino Beige porcelain tile floor.
By the time we completed the project, the kitchen had been completely transformed. Not only could you imagine a professional chef admiring its charm, you could envision him enjoying its heavy-duty capabilities. Each material and appliance in this redesigned space fit the desired gourmet profile and our client’s budget & lifestyle perfectly.
