Twenty years is a long time—especially in the life of a kitchen. This client’s Katy house was built in the early 90’s with bland plywood kitchen cabinets, white Corian counters and white tile backsplash. He decided it was time for a TriFection facelift and appliance update.
Once we discussed his goals and budget, we recommended kitchen cabinet refacing as well as new granite countertops and tile backsplash. It’s a perfect example of how we connect the puzzle pieces of form and function to fit a client’s lifestyle and budget. In this case, major reconstructive surgery wasn’t necessary when a more modest kitchen facelift would meet his needs.
Cabinet refacing is a kitchen facelift
Working with the basic structure of the kitchen, we removed cabinet doors and drawers. We replaced them with new custom Red Oak doors and drawers outfitted with soft-close undermount drawer guides and Blum European-style hidden hinges. The raised-panel cabinet doors featured Roman-style uppers, a Golden Maple stain and New Berenson cabinet hardware in black nickel finish, giving the kitchen a modern and luxurious look.
Siena Beige granite counters with a bullnose edge from Omni provided our client the look he wanted with some “movement” in the color—a welcome change from the previous indistinguishable counters. The Kraus undermount sink and Moen faucet look right at home surrounded by the refreshed backsplash featuring Emser’s Genoa Mosaic 2×2-inch tile.
Island rebuild required to fit modern appliances
TriFection’s custom cabinet team rebuilt the client’s island to accommodate a new 36-inch Electrolux induction cooktop and Zephyr pop-up vent. While at Nor-West Appliances, he also selected an Electrolux microwave and counter-depth refrigerator featuring French doors, which complement the rest of his kitchen facelift.
A new look brings new life and smiles
This freshly updated kitchen looks dramatically different from the all too common original builder-grade look from the 90’s. Our client was so thrilled with the look we created to fit his tastes and budget that he requested we take care of other painting and electrical needs.
Today our client not only enjoys a kitchen in which he can entertain, but his house now stands out from others in the neighborhood. Best of all, TriFection delivered it all without the time and expense associated with a “complete gut” kitchen remodeling project.
