One of the first living spaces in Piney Point, our clients’ residence had a rich, local history its owners appreciated and an outdated bathroom they did not. The space was poorly allocated, with too much room dedicated to a tub with triangular decking in a corner and not enough set aside for the shower space, which left users feeling confined. The bathroom design lacked personality, consisting of wallpaper and overwhelming use of basic white 4×4 tile that covered parts of the wall. This tile also covered the floor, and even the vanity countertops! It was high time for a remodel.
After hearing about TriFection on Tom Tynan’s HomeShow Radio program, our clients gave us a call. Fortunately, they found a knowledgeable company with 30 years of remodeling experience. We offer custom remodeling solutions with an eye for craftsmanship and attention to detail – exactly what this couple needed. So, they hired TriFection to redesign a better bathroom they would thoroughly enjoy.
Functional Bathroom: Down to Design
Despite some odd room angles to work with, TriFection knew we could improve the functionality of our client’s space. We planned for a large curbless, walk-in shower in place of the original tub area. It would use the space more effectively and take advantage of natural sunlight from existing bathroom windows nearby. In place of the old shower area, we designed a linen closet flush with a new vanity. The new streamlined cabinetry would offer more storage space and free up floor area.
TriFection built and installed new solid beech wood cabinetry, painted in Sherwin Williams Pure White. We crafted two large wood mirror frames with a custom stain color to match some newly purchased accessories. For the vanity countertop, our clients chose Black Mist Honed granite from Arizona Tile, fabricated with a straight polish edge, and paired it with a matching 6” backsplash.
Spacious Custom Shower
Our team of professionals built a new shower, carefully grading the floor for drainage and installed a corner bench. On the shower walls and bench, we tiled a vertical offset design of 6×24 planks of Club Grey tile from Arizona Tile. The tile looks like reclaimed wood, giving the space a rustic, natural look. We highlighted the shower niche with red Origins Glass Volcano 1×2 mosaic tile from Crossville, which our clients selected to coordinate with a stain glass piece they planned to hang in the window of the shower. On the shower floor, we placed Flat Pebble Cool Blends tile from Arizona Tile. We also installed new bathroom floors of Club Grey tile, this time with a longer 6×40 plank tile, in a 33% offset design.
Our client picked out Kohler plumbing fixtures from Ferguson for all their bathroom needs. We installed new oval undermount sinks with vintage-style faucets at the vanity space. Then we added new vibrant brushed nickel shower fixtures, including a handheld with 30” slide bar, in the shower area. To update the lighting, our electrician installed two Savoy House vanity lights with minimal detailing and English bronze finishes. He also installed six LED lights for lighting with better energy efficiency. We wrapped up the remodel with a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams paint. Our painters brushed over the walls and trims in Pure White and the ceiling in Bright White.
Functional Bathroom Renovation in Piney Point is a Success
Our clients are thrilled with their new bathroom. The new design better allocates their floor space, opens up the room completely, and reflects their current personal tastes. This new room remodel avoided damage from Hurricane Harvey too. Though, unfortunately, water affected some of the other parts of their home. We’re thankful that this completed project can be a bright spot for our clients to enjoy in the hurricane aftermath and for many years to come.
