More than 13 years ago, we completed a modest kitchen remodel in the home of a lovely couple in west Houston. They met TriFection owner Jeff Roberts and his three-year-old son Max, who tagged along to the appointments and played on their piano. Since then, we’ve all grown older and wiser, developing a strong relationship while remodeling several rooms in their home throughout the years, including the kitchen, master bath, guest bath and living room. Recently, we heard from our clients that they wanted to remodel their kitchen again. With retirement now in sight and having made the decision to enjoy those years in this house, they decided to pursue a more extensive kitchen remodel this time, including all new TriFection custom cabinets. This project would represent the final verse in a sweet remodeling song.
Striking the right chord
TriFection designed, built and finished new red oak cabinetry with bead paneling and a classic Fruitwood stain in the kitchen and refaced the cabinetry in the adjacent utility room to match. We topped the cabinetry, which wrapped around the kitchen and into the breakfast dining area, with beautiful counters of Sienna Beige granite from Midwest, fabricated with a bullnose edge. Our professional tilers installed Italian porcelain tile from Crossville, 6×6 Monocibec Ethenos Iowa, in a broken joint pattern for the backsplash. The new floors throughout the kitchen and adjoining spaces featured glazed ceramic 18×18 Stone Age Lost Sea tile from Marazzi Stone in a diagonal pattern.
We reinstalled our clients’ original cabinet door knobs and drawer pulls, but they bought new stainless steel appliances. These included a Dacor pro-style range, microwave, dishwasher, and beverage cooler as well as a new counter-depth Electrolux refrigerator. We also mounted a Miseno stainless steel double bowl undermount sink and a Delta Victorian kitchen faucet with spray in a chrome finish in the kitchen. Meanwhile, in the utility room, we installed a Gourmetier Country undermount stainless steel sink and a matching faucet.
A steady tempo
With the project running smoothly, TriFection wired for six undercabinet lights and seven LED can lights to brighten the kitchen and we installed a ceiling fan for better air circulation. We returned the toilet, washer, and dryer to their original locations in the utility area and adjacent powder bathroom. Finally, we professionally painted the area with a coat of Sherwin Williams Blonde on the walls, touched up the existing trims, painted the ceiling with Ceiling Bright White.
The big finish
Our clients are thrilled the 13-year effort to upgrade and personalize their home is now complete. Furthermore, in TriFection, they are very grateful to have found a contractor that could deliver top-quality craftsmanship with integrity. They staged their projects over time because developing the required level of trust takes time, but they now “trust [us] incredibly. Everyone is so honest.” From demo to completion, they found our professionals to be efficient, careful, and clean, and their new cabinets are “incredible and the stain is impeccable.” We have thoroughly enjoyed participating in the dramatic evolution of their home and wish them all the best in retirement.
