Our clients easily reached the decision to remodel their kitchen. But finding the right partner in a contractor took a little longer. On and off for over a year, they searched for a company that could deliver creative ideas and high-quality execution. The couple, who like to cook, were uninspired by their existing space with a dysfunctional layout and outdated appliances. During an appliance shopping visit, the store’s owner turned them on to TriFection. It was clear from the start that our turnkey service, custom craftsmanship and attention to detail would provide them exactly what they needed. So, they hired us to do the job.
Making Room for Traditional Charm
TriFection carefully dismantled our client’s old space to make way for a more functional layout. We eliminated the counter blocking the kitchen from the den to create more flow. And we also removed a nearly unusable butler’s counter along with the adjacent pantry closet. This created space for a full wall of new cabinetry provided more accessible storage and accommodated a second oven. We also designed a new island that afforded sitting space for guests. Then, we relocated the gas cooktop so cooks would never interfere with anyone loading the dishwasher.
Our clients drew selections of inspiration from the looks of a traditional English pub or vintage pharmacy. We built custom red oak cabinetry stained Golden Maple. Flourishes, including tulip paneling and cabinet feet, as well as the authentic brass finish of Keeler arch-pulls and drawer knobs from the Acanthus collection, emphasized the old world impression. For the countertop selection, our clients hand-picked Typhoon Bordeaux, an exotic granite in colors of cream, white, grey, Bordeaux, and gold, from Midwest Tile, Marble & Granite. TriFection installed a new DXV Orchard apron front sink and a Grohe single-lever faucet along with a Grohe pot filler near the cooktop.
For the kitchen backsplash, TriFection’s highly skilled tile setters laid 4″x4” Linen Cream travertine tiles from Crossville Tile & Stone. The light, neutral color provides a nice contrast to the cabinetry detail while simultaneously bringing focus to the exotic granite’s natural swirls. Above the cooktop, we also installed a decorative Lion Paws tile insert from Interceramic. We framed it with 1″x12” Linen Cream pencil tiles from Crossville. We used 18″x18″ Autumn Leaves Turkish travertine in a diagonal pattern for new tile floors. It was the perfect choice for the kitchen and breakfast area.
Added Convenience of Modern Appliances
To improve the lighting conditions, our clients chose Franklin Iron Works fixtures, including three pendant lights above the island and a matching pendant for the breakfast area, and added new LED recessed can lighting. Our clients love the new dimmer switches that provide the same effect as their den, allowing for a soft tone and intimate setting in the evening. We also installed undercabinet lights to highlight the beautiful counters and backsplash.
Our clients upgraded all of their appliances to enhance their cooking experience. They selected a new Bosch stainless steel package from Nor-West, including a gas cooktop, an under cabinet range hood, a double electric wall oven, a built-in microwave, and a French door refrigerator. Lastly, we painted Panda White from Sherwin Williams on the walls, which we complemented with Pure White on the trim and a custom color match on the ceiling.
