Cabinet refinishing adds new life to Katy kitchen

Our work is TriFection’s best salesman. Case in point: after our clients in Katy fell in love with our remodel of their master bath earlier this year, they knew TriFection would be their choice for kitchen remodeling and cabinet refinishing. They wanted the same beautiful combination of oak cabinetry, granite counters and tile floor in the kitchen and saw no need to get remodeling bids from other contractors.

Cabinet Refinishing

Not all cabinets make good candidates for refinishing. In the case of MDF, particle board, or plywood, proper sanding may damage the profiles of the cabinet fronts. Or, chemicals absorbed into the cabinets over the years (from cooking oils, cleaners, human contact, etc.) may not respond well to the refinishing process. In this case, though, TriFection’s in-house cabinet team was confident a high-quality cabinet refinish could be achieved with the client’s solid oak cabinets.

After removing all doors and drawer fronts, we brought them to TriFection’s cabinet shop to be professionally sanded, stained, sealed and lacquered; a process repeated several times to achieve the desired stain color. Meanwhile, the cabinet boxes were refinished on site. Once both were complete, we re-installed the doors and drawers.

We accented the countertops with a Torrean Mini Versailles tile backsplash from Arizona Tile.  To complete the fresh new look, we installed a new stainless steel undermount Kraus sink and Delta faucet. The client’s other appliances were all reinstalled.

Rethinking the kitchen

More storage and better accessibility from the pantry closet were high on our client’s wish list. So, we ripped out the old closet and replaced it with double pantry cabinets, complete with 12 pullout drawers. We also added two more pullout shelves behind existing cabinet doors for efficient storage of some small kitchen appliances.

We removed the old tile floor in the kitchen and carpet in the adjacent family room, replacing it with new Agra Noce (20×20) tile from Emser Tile in a hopscotch pattern. Then, to finish out the project, new light fixtures from M&M Lighting added a fresh, modern look to the whole kitchen.

Our clients are thrilled to enjoy a new kitchen that sparkles just as much as their remodeled master bathroom. TriFection’s best-in-class refinishing capabilities restored the beauty of their original cabinets at a fraction of the cost of brand new custom cabinets. It’s just one more example of Form, Function and Fit delivered upon request.
