A leaky shower led to an entire bathroom makeover for a happily satisfied TriFection client in Bellaire. His plain, outdated white and beige bathroom had served him well, but it was clearly in need of updates.
Our first bathroom makeover suggestion was elimination of the bathtub in favor of a man-sized shower. Our client’s resistance to that idea drained away while looking through photos of other walk-in showers we’d created. There’s no denying the trend of homeowners increasingly choosing to eliminate space-wasting tubs without any adverse impact on resale value.
The frameless glass shower surround is comprised of Esquire Stone Fire porcelain tile, accented by Scabos 1×1 natural stone tile.
The shower floor is covered with Scabos Mini Versailles tile. The added space left after removing the tub allowed for two granite-topped bench seats, both inside and outside the shower. The recessed shampoo niche also featured granite shelves. Finally, we added a shower head, powerful body sprays, handheld unit, slide bar and grab bar from Jaclo’s Roaring Twenties line to complete a shower any man would envy.
Given that our client is a tall man, we suggested elevating the bathroom counters from the original 31-inch height to 36-inches.TriFection’s in-house custom cabinet design team created a taller vanity built with solid cherry wood and Shaker-style fronts, both finished with a dark oak stain.
Bullnosed Stormy Night granite beautifully complemented these new cabinets. Oil-rubbed bronze fixtures finished off the vanity’s decidedly masculine look.
Finally, we completed this bathroom makeover with Travertino Royal Walnut floor tile in a Hopscotch pattern to bring together the earth tone look of the overall project.
