Our clients in the West University area own a luxurious home that is decorated artfully with many personalized touches. Their very tasteful sense of style and elegance can be found in nearly every room. They concluded, however, the time had come to update the upstairs master bathroom so that it fit better with the overall decor of the home. The enclosed shower felt a bit dark and cramped, and an oversized jetted tub dominated the floor space in the bathroom. These clients had done their homework prior to calling TriFection. They knew the general design of the desired shower as well as the type of freestanding tub and natural stone tile they sought. They just needed a trustworthy contractor who could pull it all together in a high-quality, organized fashion while respecting their home during the construction phase. So, without hesitation, they listened to Tom Tynan’s advice and called TriFection for this bathroom remodel in West University.
Grey Honed Limestone
Our clients liked their existing vanity cabinets and countertops, so a change in those items was not necessary. Instead, we used the light gray honed limestone counters with distinctive movement as inspiration for other selections in the bathroom. The focus of the remodel would be a new custom shower, tub and bathroom floor.
New Master Shower Requires Master Tile Setter
The first priority for the shower was to make it feel more open and bright. To achieve that, we removed the existing walls and furdown that enclosed it. The new shower would not be dramatically bigger, but with a knee wall, frameless glass and no furdown from the ceiling, it would sure look and feel that way.
The chosen field tile was a natural stone called Silverthorn from Thorntree, which we installed in an offset pattern using 12×24″ tiles. We accented that tile with a 4″ decorative liner called Silverthorn Waterfall. The Waterfall tile also adorned the shower floor. The bathroom floor featured 6×24″ and 2×24″ Waterfall in a beautiful herringbone pattern. As a final touch to tie the room together, we installed 12×24″ Silverthorn wainscot with a pencil liner around the bathtub and in the water closet. This design mandated a very skilled, thoughtful and patient tile setter – a true master craftsman. As with all of our trades, TriFection had the perfect guy…..
For complete showering comfort, we added a handheld unit on a slide bar, a corner bench seat, recessed soap niches, and hanging baskets for personal effects. We checked every box on our clients’ wish list in this luxurious, spacious shower.
A new soaking sensation
In place of a massive jetted tub, we installed a Victoria & Albert Edge freestanding soaker with Newport Brass fixtures. The new tub has a smaller footprint, which also makes the bathroom feel bigger, with a very simple contemporary style. The tub faucet was mounted in the adjacent exterior wall so that plumbing would not be exposed coming up from the floor. New LED lighting, medicine cabinets to match the vanities and fresh paint completed our efforts.
Bathroom Remodel in West University is a Showcase
Our clients are thrilled not only with the beauty and improved functionality of their new bathroom but also how TriFection managed the entire process, including the rigorous permitting requirements in the West U area and our care of their home during construction. This was no job for a handyman or do-it-yourselfer. It required a full team of highly experienced, dedicated professionals. Our clients commented,
“What you guys do, working on so many projects all over town without problems or delays, is incredibly impressive! Thank you so much!”
The pleasure of working with such great people was all ours, particularly after seeing the smiles on their faces.
