Our clients will tell you it all seemed like a good idea at the time: white cabinets and Formica countertops. It’s a look that soon becomes irretrievably outdated. With retirement approaching, they decided it was time for an updated dream kitchen remodel because as she put it, “I deserve it.”
A kitchen remodel that delivers more
As is the case with so many homes built in the 70’s, theirs was compartmentalized. To cure that, we began this kitchen remodel by removing a wall to open the kitchen into the living room. This renewed the look and feel of both rooms while also making the home more entertainment-friendly.
Next, TriFection’s in-house custom cabinet shop designed and built solid cherry cabinets with raised panel doors and Auburn Anigre stain. As part of our cabinetry design, we included one of our classic pantry cabinets, outfitted with six pullout drawers for maximized storage capacity. We complemented these new cabinets with Crema Bordeaux granite counters and H-Line Glossy Subway backsplash tile in a broken joint pattern. For the floor, they chose a Marmol Cafe-Brushed porcelain tile in a Versailles pattern.
Delighting by relighting this kitchen remodel
Lighting brings a fresh mood to any room, but especially a kitchen. We added undercabinet lighting that not only shows off the granite counters but also sets an after-hours mood when desired. Kichler pendant lights above the newly created serving bar area provides a nice accent.
Appliances complete the look
High-end stainless steel appliances completed our clients’ dream kitchen. From the DCS gas cooktop and the Fisher Paykel dishwasher, to the Electrolux oven, venthood, microwave, and counter-depth refrigerator with French doors, the style is sleek elegance with gourmet-level functionality.
Work is its own reward
Our clients are delighted with their finished dream kitchen. However, that comes as no surprise to them.
