Kitchen Remodel Provides Final Piece to a Friendswood Flood Rebuild

Kitchen Remodel Friendswood Flood Rebuild

TriFection completed a bathroom remodel for our Friendswood client a few months prior to Hurricane Harvey.  He was just getting accustomed to the new look and feel when 18″ of flood water destroyed the first floor of his home.  Based on his trust in our team of professionals, he called TriFection immediately to clean up the damage.  Not long after, we began developing a plan to rebuild his home.  This client decided to make the best from a bad situation.  He didn’t want to simply “put it back like it was.”  Instead, he would use this an opportunity to upgrade the rest of the downstairs, including the kitchen.  This pro-style kitchen remodel would be modern with a masculine look befitting his style and personality.

Kitchen Design Changes Come First

The TriFection design team offered our client ideas on improvements to the kitchen layout.  As with many kitchen projects, we could remove the old pantry closet in favor of a pantry cabinet.  We changed the proposed shape of the island cabinets, including the elimination of a high bar.  We created one very large L-shaped island with a single countertop height that is perfect for serving and entertaining.  New cabinets would feature cool amenities, such as pullout spice racks and a pullout trash can.  We also designed a tall mud cabinet suitable for storing coats and shoes.

Our client’s high-end Thermador appliance package would be the driving force behind the new design of this kitchen remodel.  A powerful pro-style gas range with a sleek stainless steel hood replaced the ordinary downdraft cooktop.  We relocated the refrigerator next to the new pantry cabinet to optimize the work flow in the kitchen.  In the old refrigerator location, we installed a wine fridge.  This new kitchen is well-designed to host some major parties in the future.

Kitchen Selections Then Provide the Style

Our client chose solid oak custom cabinets with raised panel fronts and a Fruitwood stain color.  We built matching cabinets around a new stacked stone fireplace in the adjacent living area.  He selected complementary Juparana Santa Cecilia granite countertops with Tumbled Troy 4×4 backsplash tile.  Both selections came from Arizona Tile.  We installed new wood-look Texas Caoba floor tile throughout the downstairs.  Sherwin Williams Playa wall paint served as the final coordinating color selection.

Process and Patience Produce a Happy Ending

It’s been a long, trying journey for everyone since Harvey.  In our efforts to return many clients to a normal living environment as soon as possible, we had to adjust normal procedures at times.  We could not always inspect and double-check as methodically as we typically do.  As a result, our execution was not perfect at all times.  However, the true test of a contractor is how he or she responds in the face of a problem.  This client will attest that TriFection made it right without debate, and he’s very happy.  We’d like to thank him again personally for his patience and for giving us the opportunity.  We’re already looking forward to the next project at his house…..
