We swear we could hear a “Whoop!” all the way from The Woodlands when these clients discovered TriFection. A true Aggie family (including a Reveille look-alike dog!), they were flipping through The HomeMag when they saw our advertisement. They were busy looking for the right contractor to remodel their kitchen and update their bathrooms, and who better to do the work than fellow Aggies? Honest remodeling advice
During our initial discussions, we explained why simply painting and trying to modify the worn particle board cabinets in the kitchen would not be a good investment in their home. While some other contractors may have told them what they wanted to hear in an attempt to get a check, we were more concerned with the “right” thing to do. Owner Jeff Reina told these folks we would politely walk away from the opportunity instead of painting those old cabinets and disappointing them (and watching them waste money). They were impressed with the honesty…..
So, TriFection built and installed square style, beech wood cabinetry with cove raised panels, painted in Sherwin Williams Pure White. On one kitchen wall, we featured a row of tall upper cabinets with clear glass fronts so our clients could display decorative glassware and plates. Our clients kept their original brushed nickel hardware, and we ordered and installed additional matching knobs and pulls to accommodate their increased storage.
For counters, our clients selected Helix Silestone countertops, fabricated with a straight polish edge. It was especially important to our clients that we keep a unique, central feature of their kitchen – an island countertop and overhang shaped like a piano. As a custom remodeler, we had no problem making sure the new countertop mimicked the original shape exactly. For a backsplash, our tilers installed a white subway tile from Crossville in a broken joint pattern. The same tile, in different sizes was used for trim around the windows.
Luxury, professional-grade appliances
Our clients enhanced their kitchen with all new professional-grade, stainless steel Thermador appliances from Ferguson. These included an oven and microwave combo, gas cooktop, venthood, and dishwasher. Believe us when we say the installation of the island venthood was a project that only a true master electrician like ours could handle……They also added a side-by-side refrigerator and undercounter compact refrigerator by Sub-Zero. We installed a Kohler Whitehaven kitchen sink, along with a Moen Arbor pullout faucet.
TriFection replaced outdated lighting with energy efficient LED inserts and added additional can lights and undercabinet lights to provide the perfect lighting effect, which was a high priority for these clients. Our painters added cool, neutral Sherwin Williams colors, including Agreeable Gray on the walls, Pure White on trims, and Bright White on the ceilings.
Beautifying two bathrooms, too!
TriFection’s honest advice in the kitchen applied in the bathrooms as well. The old particle board cabinets should be replaced with new solid wood custom cabinets, not painted in a manner equivalent to “putting lipstick on a pig.” Furthermore, instead of trying to replace framed shower glass with frameless glass and keep the existing cultured marble shower surround, they needed a larger custom tiled shower. They rarely used the bathtub, so it could go. Resale value would be enhanced with such changes, not harmed. Once again, our clients listened.
TriFection built and installed custom vanities in the master bathroom and guest bathroom with cabinetry and countertops that matched the kitchen, except they used oil-rubbed bronze hardware instead. We put Kohler Devonshire undermount bathroom sinks and Moen Monticello faucets in place. Our professionals tiled new floors and baseboards of 6×24 Heritage Golden Oak tile from Emser, placed in a 33% offset design in both bathrooms. The guest bathroom also received a new backsplash of Calacata Gris porcelain tile from Crossville laid out in a grid pattern above the inset tub, while we built a new shower from the ground up in the master bathroom. Our tilers placed 12×24 Barcelona II White field tile from Interceramic on the walls and InterTech Mosaic Uni Ivory 2×2 unglazed porcelain tiles on the shower floor in a grid pattern. TriFection installed Moen Kingsley fixtures in chrome finishes and clear frameless glass with chrome hardware to finish the shower and put back the original bathroom accessories and toilet. We painted both rooms Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray on the walls, Bright White on the ceilings, and matched the existing trim.
A maroon and white Christmas
Our clients are thrilled with the final results of their home’s multi-room makeover and grateful for TriFection’s advice and professionalism throughout the project.
